Old Jaffa Walking Tour

Wednesday, June 28, 2017 (17:30-20:00)
17:30 Assemble for departure at the coffee area (near the posters)
Jaffa (Yafo in Hebrew) is one of the oldest port cities in the world, out of which Tel Aviv has grown.
Archaeological evidence shows that Jaffa port was in use for over 7,000 years. It is mentioned in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles, such as the book of Jonah, Tabitha’s restoration to life, and Peter’s conversion of Gentiles all began here.
Jaffa, currently a part of Tel Aviv, is home to a vibrant multiethnic community of Muslims, Christians and Jews and is historically, culturally and anthropologically a unique city to visit. Jaffa, with it’s Middle Eastern smells, a frenetic mix of old and new, picturesque alleys, artist colony with galleries and craftsman shops, the colorful flea market and more, is a must visit when in Israel.

The guided tour will depart from the Dan-Panorama Hotel and participants will walk to Jaffa along the paved beachfront boardwalk, to visit and experience this unique and colorful part of Tel Aviv.
After the visit, participants may stay in Jaffa for dinner (own expense) and continue the visit on their own.
(Included in the registration fees for participants).
